|
|
I tried searching, but with my horrible searching skills I didn't find anything. I also wasn't sure what section this was in, so I apologize if it's not in the right one.
What kind of strength does a RG need? In AG you need strong arms, and they do a lot of training with arms I'm assuming. What about for Rhythmic Gymnastics? What strength do I need to obtain to be a good rhythmic gymnast? Is this what conditioning is for? I'm a newbie to this sport, and not really sure what conditioning to do to get good. Can someone help me out please!? |

You need good core strength which Ballet is famous for improving
you need some arm strength to do walkovers and throws (depending on how naturally strong your arms are, for example I did AG since I was 5 so I dont work on arm strength as often)
Leg strength for a whole host of reasons. One thing is to create amplitude in jumps. For legs you can do ballet barre excersizes, jumps with rope, leg lifts ect
Ankle strength is important for standing on raised feet (relevé)
Stomach and back strength is also needed, again ballet improves stomach strength but you can also do sit ups, back raisers (lying on your stomach and use your strength to raise your upper body off the floor as far as you can and keep repeating the excersise)

If you do Ballet once a week for one hour, will that really help much? I don't know enough Ballet on my own to do it at home by myself :/ |

Maybe two times in a week (at total about 3 hours), besides rhythmic, should help. |

Not a whole lot. Look at the difference in phisique between an AG girl and RG girl. They have beauitful slender bodies, but they do not look strong or muscley, like at all. Some AG girls on the other hand have more muscular bodies than some of my male pals at judo.
Throwing a hoop doesnt take a whole lot of strentgh. You need strong legs to do the leaps, but if you dont weigh a whole lot, you can do them with realtively slender legs no problem.
And none of the handbalancing elements are static either. I can imagine that you might have problems with your arm strentgh, but add a minimum of weightlifting and you will be fine. |

Liukin looks quite slender; not as muscular as some gymnasts. And have you seen Tchachina's legs? or Bessonova's?
I THINK THIS IS FOR 'THE GYM' TOPIC....... _________________ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idLG6jh23yE |

| Cassius it's very obvious that you have never ever used any rhytmic apparates before. Because you do need strenght in your arms to throw a ball and make 2 rolls under it. |

The ball is quite difficult to throw high as it's heavy. My hoop is on the heavy side too so it's quite hard to throw as is ribbon, you need a lot of force to get the whole 6 metres off the floor! _________________ Bring on the wall!

Well it's going to be easier for some than it is for others. I'm sure throwing a hoop or a ball will be SO MUCH easier for Arnold Schwarzenegger (excuse the spelling) than it will be for Kanaeva. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idLG6jh23yE |

Agreed. And try keeping a 6m ribbon off the ground for the whole routine with no arm strength! _________________ http://www.youtube.com/Tahnee2612 |
